Day 10, October 30 - We started learning how to use the sMRT public transportation system, and we took it to Hort Park and Henderson's Waves. We did a ton of walking and (in my opinion) it was the hottest and stickiest day yet... but the scenery, attractions, adventures were well worth it! I enjoyed learning about the different plants of Singapore and what not to do when we see a monkey! Around evening, we were still walking at the Henderson's Waves and it started pouring. And when I say pouring it was really pouring! We ran for it, and fortunately found a nearby shelter. We waited it out for about 45 min, and discussed options and prayed for wisdom and the weather to clear. The rain died down a bit after awhile, so we decided to go for it. Thankfully we were all safe and sound! One of my favorite memories was walking and singing hymns and songs in the rain! I also had quite an experience having to speak Mandarin to a taxi driver to get back to our host home. I am thankful that my Chinese came in handy and that I was able to communicate with the driver alright... plus get back to our home!
Day 11, October 31 - Today we visited the OMF headquarters in Singapore. OMF is the Overseas Missionary Fellowship, and it was originally founded by Hudson Taylor. We were able to meet some of the missionaries based there and have lunch with them. After that, we walked around the Singapore Botanical Gardens. All of the plants here are all so interesting and beautiful! Then, we had a snack at a nearby food court. I had long-an drink and fresh roti prata. So yummy! We then took the MRT to Marina Bay, where the Marina Bay Sands hotel is, as well as the famous Merlion (the symbol of Singapore). The Marina Bay Sands hotel is famous for its infinity swimming pool at the very top of the hotel. We enjoyed walking around and taking pictures. We also saw a really cool light show, where the hotel was lit up along with music! For dinner, I had seafood hokkien mee noodles and durian shaved ice for dessert! Durian is known for its unpleasant smell, but I thought it actually tasted pretty good! We had plenty of fun adventures today, because that's what we're here for! I'm always being reminded that we don't bring anything to the table - we come with open hands. And so anything that happens is in His hands! It has been very exciting to be experiencing this trip with that mindset of adventure!
